Welcome to Whale Tale WinesIn May of 2007, our winery located in Clarksburg, California 90 miles from the ocean had 2 very unique visitors. Delta and Dawn, a mother Humpback Whale and her calf, visited us for nearly 2 weeks. At the same time, we were developing the spectacular wine you can enjoy today. Call it kismet or serendipity but the vineyards that produce the grapes in this wine have been blessed with wonderful soil, fantastic weather and now Delta and Dawn to provide the inspiration as you invite Whale Tale Wines to your dinner table or just your favorite wine glass. We have an exclusive agreement with Save The Whales to donate a portion of the proceeds of every case to their worldwide educational efforts. Additionally, in an effort to protect the World's diminishing Cork Oak forests we have gone to a screw top. Screw tops are being used the world over. In Italy over 60% of the wines utilize the better seal on ready to drink wines. Whale Tale Red is a Dark Plum/garnet color. The nose is one of Black Cherry and Berry. The taste is Black Cherry and Berry fruit with a trace of vanilla and spice. It has a balanced jammy finish. Whale Tale White has a straw smokey quartz color. The nose is of light fruit/citrus slightly floral with a mild oak aroma. The refreshing taste comes from a light pear, citrus and kiwi with a slight oak flavor. Currently available only in California at Lira's Super Markets, The Mandarin Restaurant in Carmichael, California, Granito's Italian Restaurant in Folsom, California and Upper Crust Trattoria in San Luis Obispo, California.
